MARIKA THUNDER
Painter
Painter Marika’s day starts in her spacious, chilly studio, layering a clean-cut puff sweat pullover over a turtleneck or denim shirt. Her go-to barrel-leg pants flare from the hips with a modern shape. At 4 p.m., she wraps up and heads to the gym, tossing on a half coat.
- Q1. How do you spend your time at home?
- A1. I paint in my studio. I used to stay in for 6-9 hours, but now I focus and wrap up in about four.
- Q2. What about when you’re out and about?
- A2. I hit the gym or take trips for research. Some of my pieces feature machines or cars I came across while traveling.
- Q3. What keeps you feeling positive?
- A3. I pray before bed. It’s my time to reflect on the day and give thanks – it helps me stay grounded.
MARLEY SAUNDERS
Student
Student and basketball player Marley starts early with finger rolls, training in heavyweight wide-leg pants and a matching ribbed jacket. A tonal ombré check shirt adds a subtle boost. By 10 a.m., he throws on a heat-padded jacket and heads to the local park to meet his crew.
- Q1. How do you spend your time at home?
- A1. In the early morning, I quietly run ball drills, so I don’t wake my parents. I also love video games – once I start, I can get totally hooked.
- Q2. What about when you’re out and about?
- A2. Besides basketball, weight training at the gym is part of my routine. Once I’m outside, I just want to keep moving.
- Q3. What keeps you feeling positive?
- A3. Staying active lifts my mood – so I make a point to keep moving as much as I can.
