This is the first collaboration between ENGINEERED GARMENTS, a brand originating in New York, and GU from Tokyo.
ENGINEERED GARMENTS is a modern reinterpretation of classic American workwear and military items by designer Daiki Suzuki, featuring “skillfully designed” items with attention to detail.
This time, the thoughts of GU and ENGINEERED GARMENTS on “manufacturing” resonated, and the collaboration was realized.
The first collection is based on the theme of “Manhattanism”, and will be inspired by the movement of New York in the 1970s, and will be reimagined with a playful touch of vintage clothing and military elements.

We are thrilled to announce the completion of our first collection with GU. Under the theme “Manhattanism,” this collection reconstructs American-inspired items through the lens of ENGINEERED GARMENTS, delivered with GU's trusted product quality and pricing. While the two brands serve different customer bases, our shared dedication to craftsmanship resonated, resulting in highly refined items created by a trusted team. We look forward to this collection reaching a broad range of customers across genders and ages.
Daiki Suzuki
Daiki Suzuki, a designer from Japan, is Nepenthes America representative and founder of ENGINEERED GARMENTS. Born in 1962.
He moved to the US in 1989, working in Boston, New York, and San Francisco before returning to New York to establish an office in 1997.
In 2008, he received the CFDA Award for Best New Menswear Designer. He has been an official member of the CFDA since 2009.
