COMMITMENT
TO REDUCING
SINGLE-USE PLASTIC
Around 8 million metric tons of plastic debris enters the oceans every year. Around 80% of that debris comes from towns and cities, so it is important for us all to consume less single-use plastic. GU has implemented four sustainability measures to help cut this waste.
Reducing single-use plastic
GU is making a shift towards using as few disposable plastics as possible.
ACTION①
From 2019, plastic shopping bags have been replaced with bags made from recycled paper or paper certified by the FSC (Forest Stewardship Council).
FSC forest management certification confirms that the forest is being managed in a way that preserves biological diversity and benefits the lives of local people and workers, while ensuring it sustains economic viability.
