GU wants to support the freedom of all women.
With this wish in mind, this year's International Women's Day
We conducted a donation campaign to support women through accessories.

To coincide with International Women's Day on Friday, March 8, 2024, GU will donate a portion of the proceeds from its accessory sales to JOICFP, a public interest incorporated foundation that supports women. The donation will be used for two White Ribbon support activities to help women around the world live healthy, authentic lives.

Support 1: Support for the construction of Akurusu Clinic in Ghana

The donation was used for a clinic construction project in the Akurusu region of Upper Manya Krobo County, Eastern Region, Republic of Ghana. Ghana's maternal mortality rate is extremely high, approximately 65 times that of Japan, and access to medical facilities remains difficult, particularly in rural areas. The Akurusu region only had a dilapidated clinic, making it difficult for women to give birth safely or receive adequate medical services. This project worked with local residents and the government to build a new clinic with a delivery room and a well. The clinic was also provided with a full set of delivery tables and medical equipment, and an opening ceremony was held in May 2025. This has created an environment where local women and residents can receive safe, high-quality medical services. Local residents have expressed their gratitude, saying, "We're so happy to now have a place where we can give birth in peace."

Support 2: Support for women affected by the Noto Peninsula earthquake

The Noto Peninsula earthquake that struck on January 1, 2024 forced many residents to evacuate, making support especially for women and mothers and children an urgent priority. GU's donation to JOICFP was also used to support women affected by the disaster. In Nanao City and the Oku-Noto region of Ishikawa Prefecture, support packs containing underwear, hygiene products, and other items were distributed directly to evacuation centers and temporary housing, and doctors were also available for health checks and consultations. GU also held cafes and workshops aimed at providing mental care, distributed security alarms, and conducted awareness-raising activities to prevent sexual assault. GU worked to create a space where women affected by the disaster could feel safe and secure. Furthermore, the hair tie sets provided by GU were greatly appreciated in the affected areas, providing a small sense of everyday comfort and emotional support.
