This initiative ensures that the clothes you have loved will find new uses in the future. For example, it has achieved great results in providing clothing support to refugees and local communities, and processing them into soundproofing materials for cars. GU believes that clothing can contribute more to society. By RECYCLE and REUSE, we are promoting REDUCE (reducing resource waste). Recycling and reuse mechanisms

We reuse clothing collected at GU stores and, together with The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and NGOs and NPOs around the world, provide clothing to people in need around the world, including refugee camps and emergency disaster relief in disaster-stricken areas. Additionally, clothing that cannot be reused is recycled and processed into other products.

  • Retrieve

    Customers can collect unwanted clothing from UNIQLO, GU, PLST, etc. in collection boxes installed at each store.

  • Sorting

    We sort items into those that can be reused and used as is, and those that can be recycled and given a new life.

  • Meeting needs

    We categorize items by season, gender, size, adult, child, climate, culture, religion, etc. to meet the recipient's needs in detail.

  • Processing and regeneration

    Clothes that cannot be reused are processed into soundproofing materials for cars, etc. (Japan, Taiwan, America)

  • Useful worldwide

    We deliver clothing to refugees and displaced people around the world, tailored to their needs. Recycled clothing is then recycled into other products and circulated back into society.

Things to note when collecting clothes

Collection boxes have been installed at UNIQLO, GU and PLST stores nationwide.

  • This offer applies to all products sold at UNIQLO, GU, PLST, Theory, Comptoir des Cotonniers, Princesse Tam Tam, J Brand, and Helmut Lang.
  • Please wash your clothing before bringing it to ensure it arrives in good condition at the clothing donation recipient.
  • Please be careful not to put any valuables inside.
